17-year-old Indian pacer RD Pranav Raghavendra shocks the cricket world by clocking 147.3 km/h in U-19 cricket – the fastest ever by an Indian at this level. IPL scouts watching!
India’s Next Pace Sensation is Here
At the tender age of 17, RD Pranav Raghavendra made it big and made national headlines for a raw pace that could rival the big names in international cricket. The young gun out of Vellore had left everyone shocked by running in at a blistering 147.3 km/h and that is the top recorded delivery by an Indian U-19 bowler to date.
From Sprinter to Speed Demon
Surprisingly, Pranav wasn’t raised by any means with the idea of cricket being his lifelong obsession. Formerly a sprinter of 100m until the doctor told him to get into team sports and give up on being all-out competitive. Not as a batsman or spinner, ago they forced me to bowl full throttle — when cricket came in, *sob* as a fast bowler. Within some years he was altered and now is breaking the hay tracks in Tamil Nadu Premier League for iDream Tirupur Tamizhans by playing.
Speed Meets Precision and Passion
Pranav said in The Indian Express: “ “Nothing beats the fear factor of nerving batters with a sharp bouncer or attacking lengths on their gloves.” True, he’s not after just the adrenaline rush of speed. He knows how to be reliable, — accurate, rigorous, and the very best fitness. “ Speed is hot, control is power.

MRF & McGrath’s Blessing Behind the Magic
Not surprisingly, Pranav’s growth trajectories have been upwardly vertiginous. He had trained with the MRF Pace Foundation and also gone through the mill directly under Aussie great Glenn McGrath. He was bowling at 139km/h by 16. For the following two years he is jostling to go beyond the 150 mph barrier (a distinction held only by elite international pacers)

A Future Star Already in Motion
His coach M Senthilnathan says he used to see Pranav bowl at 130 km/h only two years ago. “Now he’s a beast,” he smiles. Pranav is hardly a cricket star now playing two first-class under Tamil Nadu and both IPL/national scouts are drooling over him for the next 5 years.

With that kind of pace, mindset, and mentorship — India’s fast-bowling future might just be wrapped in Pranav Raghavendra’s fiery right arm.
