Ingredients to make chicken shawarma :
Boneless chicken (thigh meat is more tender) – 500 grams
Curd—1/2 cup
Lemon juice—1 tablespoon
Ginger-garlic paste—1 tbsp
Red chili powder—1 tsp
Turmeric—1/4 tsp
Coriander powder—1 tsp
Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
Garam masala—1/2 tsp
Salt—according to taste
Oil—1 tbsp
Maida roti / Laccha paratha / Pita bread
Salad (chopped onion, cucumber, tomato, cabbage)
Garlic mayonnaise or tahini sauce
How to Make Chicken Shawarma :
Mix all the spices in curd and apply it well on the chicken pieces. Keep it in the fridge for at least 2 hours (or overnight). Heat a tawa or pan, add some oil, and fry the marinated chicken on medium flame till it becomes golden and cooked. Preheat oven to 200°C, place the chicken on a tray, and bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping once in between. On a pan, heat roti or paratha. Top with cabbage/salad, chicken, and garlic mayo/tahini. Roll and lightly grill if desired. Serve hot chicken shawarma with mint chutney, French fries, or a cold drink.
