5 Upcoming Toyota Cars in India You Must Watch Out for in 2025

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has been steadily strengthening its hold in the Indian market for the last few years. Launching new models in collaboration with Maruti Suzuki and constantly updating hit brands like Innova and Fortuner have been the major reasons for this success. Now the company is preparing for some new and very special models. Let’s know about those 5 upcoming Toyota cars, which are awaited.

1. Toyota Urban Cruiser EV

Toyota introduced the concept of its first electric SUV, Urban Cruiser EV, at the India Mobility Expo held in January 2025. It is expected to be launched in the Indian market by the end of 2025. This vehicle will be launched after Maruti e-Vitara and both will have the same base. Urban Cruiser EV will come in two battery variants – 49kWh and 61kWh. With a larger battery pack, this SUV will claim to run more than 500 kilometers on a single charge. Its length will be around 4,285 mm and the wheelbase will be 2,700 mm.

2. Toyota Fortuner Mild-Hybrid

The mild-hybrid version of the Toyota Fortuner has already been launched overseas and is now expected to arrive in India this year as well. This SUV will get a 48V mild hybrid system with a 2.8-liter turbo diesel engine. This technology will increase the mileage of the Fortuner by about 5% and the engine power will also increase by 16 bhp and 42 Nm of torque. Overall, this vehicle will give a power of 201 bhp and a peak torque of 500 Nm. It will be offered in both 2WD and 4WD options.

3. Toyota Land Cruiser Prado

The return of the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado was being discussed for a long time and in February 2025, it was also seen during testing in India. In international markets, it is being sold as the Land Cruiser 250. In India, it will come as a fully imported (CBU) unit and will be positioned below the Land Cruiser 300. It will get a 2.8-liter turbo diesel engine, which will come with 48V mild-hybrid technology and will be mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Launch is likely in late 2025.

4. Toyota Urban Cruiser Highrider 7-Seater

Toyota is also going to launch a 7-seater SUV based on the Urban Cruiser Highrider soon. This car will be introduced after the 7-seater version of the Maruti Grand Vitara. This new SUV will get the same 1.5-liter petrol engine (K15C) and 1.5-liter strong hybrid engine, which runs on the Atkinson cycle and will be supported by a 177.6V lithium-ion battery. Also, some new changes will be seen in the design and interior.

5. Toyota Taser Hybrid

Maruti Suzuki is working on a hybrid version of its Front SUV and after its launch, the same hybrid technology can be given in Toyota Taser as well. However, it is not yet officially confirmed. The new engine that will come in Taser will use a 1.2 liter Z12E petrol engine and Maruti’s in-house HEV series hybrid system. Its biggest feature will be its excellent fuel efficiency and Taser Hybrid will have a mileage of 30 kilometers per liter
