He crossed the border by accident and was held by Pakistan Rangers. They handed him back around 10:30 a.m. at the Attari-Wagah border in Amritsar.
Shaw went missing on April 23. He was helping farmers near the zero line in Punjab’s Ferozepur district. That’s when he walked into Pakistani land by mistake.

Talks Helped Bring Him Home
The BSF said talks with Pakistan Rangers made this return happen. Both sides met often. Even during some cross-border firing, they kept trying to talk.
“We got Constable Shaw back today,” a BSF officer said. “Regular talks helped us bring him home.”

Family Waited Day and Night
In Hooghly, West Bengal, his family had no peace. His dad, Bhola Nath Shaw, said they heard from top officers the night before.
“They told us he’d come back today,” he said. “We’re waiting for papers to confirm it, but we’re glad he’s safe.”
Shaw had only joined his new post in Ferozepur on April 10. He was in uniform when he crossed. From day one, it was clear this was an accident.
