Shiv Puja in Sawan Monday:
The month of Sawan is one of the holiest months dedicated to Lord Shiva. In this month, special worship and fasting of Lord Shiva on Mondays have great importance. It is believed that by observing the fast of Sawan Monday, all the wishes of the devotees are fulfilled, obstacles in marriage are removed, happiness of children is attained and happiness and prosperity comes in life.
Mondays of Sawan month:
• First Monday: 14 July 2025, Monday
• Second Monday: 21 July 2025, Monday
• Third Monday: 28 July 2025, Monday
• Fourth Monday: 04 August 2025, Monday
Only if the fast of Sawan Monday is observed with full devotion and rituals, it gives full results. Know the Sawan Monday fast method here:
1. Morning bath and resolution:
Get up early in the morning and take a bath and wear clean clothes.
– Purify the place of worship with Gangajal.
– While meditating on Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati, take a vow of fasting by chanting the mantra ‘Mam Kshemasthairyasiddhyartham Sakal-Manorath-Siddhaye Shravan-Somvar-Vratam Karishye’.
2. Jalabhishek and worship on the Shivling:
– First of all offer water on Shivling in the temple of the house or in the Shiva temple. If Gangajal is mixed then it is even more auspicious.
– After that, mix milk, curd, ghee, honey, and sugar and do Abhishek with Panchamrit.
– Then do Abhishek again with pure water.
– Always offer Belpatra upside down on Shivling i.e. the smooth part should be towards Shivling. also offer Dhatura, Bhang, Shami Patra, white flowers or Aak flowers, sandalwood, Akshat, Bhasm, etc.
– Offer sixteen makeup items, red chunari, and flowers to Mother Parvati.
– Light incense and lamp.
3. Mantra chanting and story:
– Chant the mantras of Lord Shiva, such as ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ or ‘Mahamrityunjaya Mantra’.
– Recite Shiva Chalisa.
– Be sure to listen or read the story of Sawan Monday fast.
4. Aarti:
– At the end of the puja, perform the aarti of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati.
5. Prasad:
– Offer fruits, sweets (such as kheer, halwa) etc. to God.
– Distribute the prasad after offering the food.
6. Fruit diet and breaking the fast:
– Keep the fast throughout the day. If you cannot stay without food, then eat milk, fruits, sago, buckwheat etc. in the fruit diet.
– Perform the puja again in the evening after sunset, if you have not taken a resolution, then worship only once a day.
– Next day i.e. on Tuesday, break the fast after bathing, eat satvik food.
Fasting rules and precautions:
• Do not consume onion, garlic, meat, alcohol and non-vegetarian food during the Sawan Monday fast.
• Do not consume rice.
• Avoid sleeping during the day.
• Do not insult anyone, do not get angry.
