Hyundai Creta EV vs Mahindra XUV400 : It is a virtual frenzy among the Electric SUV crowd in India, and the launches happen right in the hectic time of 2025. The talk of the town for 2025 is completely centered around these two electrics- the Hyundai Creta, an EV, and the Mahindra XUV400. While some promise quiet, trendy driving, loads of modern features, and SUV-like aplush, others have appeal to the more down-to-earth; these two offerings bring eclecticism in consumers’ choices to decide. Thinking of switching to an electric SUV but confused between the two? Here lies the very simple and straightforward comparison to help you sail through the decision.
The most exciting news for car enthusiasts has got to be the announcement of the most awaited electric car of the year, the Hyundai Creta EV. The completely electric version of the car comes built on the same platform as that of the petrol models of Creta. The company claims to offer two battery options with a driving range of about 450 km, based on full charge.
The fast charging will support charging from 10 to 80% in under 45 minutes. The design stays the same as the petrol Creta but with EV-specific touches like a closed grille and new alloy wheels. Inside you expect premium features like a large touchscreen, 360-degree camera, connected car tech and advanced safety systems like ADAS.
The Mahindra has taken the plunge with the XUV400, which has already been launched and proved itself as an electric SUV. It also boasts two battery pack options: 34.5 kWh and the other completely liberating, which claims a phenomenal range of 456 km with a capacity of 39.4 kWh.
Supporting fast charging, 0-80% in 50 minutes, makes it very sporty with a top speed of 150 km/h and a 0-100 km/h in just 8.3 seconds. Generally roomy cabin but most of all with the upgrade to a bigger touchscreen, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay and safety features like six airbags and ESC.
Indeed, the XUV400 is slightly lower in price, starting at an approximate ₹15.50 lakh, while the Creta EV is set for launch at an introductory price of around Rs 22 to Rs 24 lakh. So, if price is your key consideration, Mahindra takes the cake here.
So, the Creta EV is for someone who wants to buy an electric SUV but of course at a higher premium as it is more modern in terms of design features and high-end specifications like the XUV400s in taste and class. The other major difference-the cost associated with it and how much can be spent-will greatly influence how one chooses to go.
