Ford stopped production of vehicles in India in 2022. The EcoSport was launched in 2013 and was quite popular, but it also had to be discontinued due to increasing competition and low sales.

In September 2024, it was reported that Ford was in talks with the Tamil Nadu government to resume production from the Chennai plant for export. This decision was expected to provide employment to about 3,000 people. However, now this plan has been postponed for some time.
