GT vs LSG: Gujarat fought the battle bravely 

Lucknow Super Giants sealed their win with Mitchell Marsh (117 runs) and Nicholas Pooran (not out 56 runs). LSG won the match by 33 runs against Gujarat Titans in their home ground. On Thursday at Narendra Modi Stadium, LSG set a target of 235 runs with losing only 2 wickets. In response to that, GT was able to score only 202 runs while losing 9 wickets in 20 overs.

GT, who have already cleared the play-offs and are trying to get in the top-2, with this defeat, there can be a setback in their position. With the last win against GT, LSG has something to be happy about, as they are out of the playoff race. 

With the three big names and players of the event so far till now: Captain Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler, and Sai Sudarshan. None of them were able to perform well in the last match against LSG. With the target being so high, it was necessary for both the openers to play from the first ball of the innings. Sudarshan was out in the 5th over of Will O’Rourke and ended up making only 21 runs for the team. Gill was dismissed in the 8th Over of Avesh Khan, contributing only 35 runs for the team. 

Butler was going well in the match, he was only able to make 33 runs on 18 balls with two sixes and three fours. In the 10th over of the third ball, his bat got uprooted in the Akash Singh over.

Rutherford – Shahrukh fought the battle

Both the players kept the match alive, Shahrukh Khan and Sherfane Rutherford. Due to these two, the Gujarat Titans were alive in the match till the end against Lucknow. The partnership between them scored 86 runs in 40 balls, which put the LSG under tension for quite some time in the match. Shahrukh contributed 57 runs in 29 balls, and Rutherford scored an overall of 38 runs in 22 balls. 

On the 19th Over, Shahrukh, who played 29 balls and scored 57 runs, was out. Once he was out, it was certain defeat for the GT, as he was the last hope for the team. In the last over, Ayush Badoni took 2 wickets, Kagiso Rabada scored 2 runs, and Sai Kishore scored 1 run. 

A century from Marsh’s Bat

While winning the toss in the match, Gill couldn’t win the test. He invited the LSG to bat first, in which Marsh and Aiden Markram gave the team a great start and made a 91-run partnership for the first wicket. Sai Kishore was the one who gave GT their first wicket in the 10th over of Markram. He couldn’t complete the half century, but he gave his best for the team.

Then the Duo of Marsh and Pooran took on the bowlers and showed their potential. Where Marsh completed his first IPL century, his brother also scored a century in 2008 for the Punjab Kings XI. The Marsh brothers are the first pair of brothers to play in the IPL and have centuries in their names. 

Pooran remained unbeaten in the match and collectively scored a 121-run partnership for the second wicket. Captain Pant could only score 18 runs in 6 balls.
