BYD Dolphin Surf EV : Last year, BYD Seagull EV created a lot of buzz in the budget electric car segment in China. Now a slightly larger and upgraded version of the same car has been introduced in Europe, which the company has launched as BYD Dolphin Surf. Although it has been named ‘Dolphin’, it is an updated version of Seagull. With some changes in design and features, this car has been designed keeping European customers in mind.
Changes in dimensions and design
BYD Dolphin Surf is a compact electric hatchback, which is slightly larger than Seagull. Its length is 3,990 mm, width 1,720 mm and height 1,590 mm, while the wheelbase is 2,500 mm. It is 210 mm longer, 5 mm wider and 50 mm higher than Seagull. The reason for this is its new front and rear bumpers, which not only increase the size slightly but also give the car a new look. Also, its side body cladding is also in a new design, which gives it a sporty and premium touch.
Price and variants information
The most special thing about this car is its price. The starting price of Dolphin Surf in Europe has been kept at EUR 19,990 i.e. around Rs 19.33 lakh. This price is of the ‘Active’ variant, which is its base model. Apart from this, the price of ‘Boost’ variant is EUR 23,380 i.e. around Rs 22.61 lakh and the top variant ‘Comfort’ is priced at EUR 25,880 i.e. around Rs 25.03 lakh. All these prices are currently under the ‘Early Bird’ offer, which will be valid till the end of June 2025. After this their prices will increase slightly.

Features and Safety Technology
As far as its features are concerned, it has the same 10.1-inch rotating infotainment screen, which was also in Seagull. Apart from this, it also gets ADAS system, which is necessary according to the new safety rules of Europe. It includes important features like auto emergency braking, which makes the car more safe.
Based on new e-Platform 3.0
BYD Dolphin Surf is built on the company’s e-Platform 3.0. This platform is specially designed for EVs, which gives the car more efficiency and better range. Although complete information about its battery and range has not been given yet, it is expected that it will give better performance than Seagull.
