The year 2025 is keeping Samsung extremely busy. The company started the year off with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which boasted a new look entirely. Not too long after, the Galaxy S25 Edge made its debut, offering even more options for Samsung. But Samsung isn’t done yet. It’s also getting ready to release the Galaxy Z Fold 7 with significant upgrades, and in its wake, a new kind of foldable phone may arrive: a tri-fold smartphone.

Tri-Fold Phone Could Come in Q3 2025

The third quarter of 2025, or roughly July to September, is when Samsung’s tri-fold smartphone is expected to debut, according to tipster Yogesh Brar. The phone can perhaps become a landmark product based on its innovative three-part folding design, providing a distinct user experience compared to current foldables. Previous rumors indicated it could release later, but recent leaks indicate that it might come sooner than anticipated.

Exclusive to South Korea and China

But the tri-fold phone might not get a worldwide release, at least for now. According to reports, Samsung intends to roll it out in small numbers and in only a few markets such as South Korea and China. This implies that enthusiasts in other nations may be waiting or perhaps never see it at all.

Expensive Price Might Deter Interest

The price of this one-of-a-kind phone can be expected between $3,000 and $3,500, that is roughly ₹2,56,200 to ₹2,98,900. This is very expensive and may appeal to only a niche audience, those who are enthusiasts of technology, collectors, or early adopters. Common consumers may not afford to pay the price, even if the look and feel are thrilling.

Inspired by Multi-Hinge Designs

Unlike Samsung’s book-style foldable phones that come with a single hinge, this tri-fold model might include two or three hinges. It could follow the concept of Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate, which also used multiple hinges. This design allows the device to fold in more ways and possibly become more flexible.

Leaked Patents Hint at a Full-Sized Tablet Look

Previous leaked patents have revealed foldables with two or even three hinges and as many as four joined panels. If Samsung adopts this concept, the tri-fold phone could unfurl into a big, tablet-sized display, much larger than current foldables, which just provide two phone-sized screens side by side.
