Delhi NCR finally received the sort of rain that it had been waiting for after weeks of fierce heat and high humidity. And it wasn’t just a gentle rain, it was pouring. Pragati Maidan got 38 mm of rain and winds went as high as 39 kilometers per hour. Areas like Rohini in Kanjhawala and Bawana got fully soaked so traffic slowed down and many people stood on their balconies with a cup of tea to enjoy the cool air and long awaited break from the heat.
Orange Alert Sounded: Delhi Braces for More Downpours
The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Thursday so heavy to very heavy rain is likely in Delhi and its satellite cities of Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad. Light showers lashed some areas of Delhi in the early hours of Friday and the intensity of rain is expected to increase as the day progresses.
People are advised to avoid flooded areas and to protect their phones and electronics and to have an umbrella or raincoat if they need to head outside .There might be delays in buses and metro so some parts of the city could even see short power cuts.
