Travel plans may go wrong in a split second. A delayed flight or cancelled train can ruin your plans and pocket. But here’s something that few people know: Indian Railways and airlines give full refunds in specific situations. You just have to learn about them.
Let’s see when you qualify and how to prevent losing cash.
When Airlines Cancel Your Flight
It’s the worst possible thing that can occur for travellers. When you have your flight cancelled by the airline, you qualify for:
A full refund with no deduction, or
A seat on the next available flight.
No paperwork, no fuss, the refund is automatic or you get to reschedule.
When You Cancel a Flight Ticket
When you cancel the flight, refunds are different:
7 Days Before Travel: You usually get a 100% refund.
3 to 6 Days Before: Air operators can deduct between ₹3000, depending upon the type of fare.
Less than 3 Days: ₹3500 can be deducted.
See what the airline policy is always before you book. International air regulation is stricter, check it out.
