New ITR Deadline Announced

Attention taxpayers: The Income Tax Department has extended the deadline for FY 2024–25’s ITR filing to September 15, 2025. If your yearly earnings exceed the fundamental tax-free threshold outlined in the Income Tax Act, 1961, submitting your tax declaration becomes obligatory. Filing for the assessment year 2025–26 is operational but wait for sometime if you are a salaried individual.

Salaried individuals can submit from June 15

Even though the ITR forms are now on the official website, salary taxpayers can file only from June 15, 2025. Why so? Because the majority of employers provide Form 16, which is a form to file taxes based on, only after mid-June. Some get it even in July or end-June. You cannot continue with your filing until you receive this form, particularly if TDS was deducted.

How to File Your ITR at Home

It is easier now, you can either do it online or offline, but for convenience, most choose to do it online. The Income Tax Department has also introduced new ITR Utility Tools to make it simpler.
