And finally, the Kherki Daula toll plaza on NH 48 is being moved after decades of delay and demands. The National Highways Authority of India has given its approval for relocation to Panchgaon, a location some 15 kilometers ahead of where it is located currently, past Manesar. The whole exercise should be complete within six months, ending the agony of the long-suffering commuters of Gurugram.
Why the Shift Matters
Daily, more than 44,000 automobiles traverse the Kherki Daula toll plaza, generating approximately Rs 49 lakh in earnings. But commuters have complained for years of congestion and jams in traffic, particularly during rush hours. But when the toll is shifted to Panchgaon close to the NH 48 turn and Western Peripheral Expressway traffic coming through Gurugram is likely to witness a significant turnaround. Once the new toll comes into effect, commuters travelling between Manesar and Delhi will not need to pay toll at the current plaza.
Smooth and Fast with MLFF Technology
To prevent developing new jams on the Panchgaon location, NHAI is going to implement the Multi Lane Free Flow system of toll collection. It captures the license plate number from above the road through cameras and takes the toll charge from the FASTag accounts without stopping the vehicle. The idea is to provide smoother traffic flow with no unnecessary bottlenecks.
A Boon for Real Estate Growth
The change is also going to bring about a wave of advantages for the realty sector, particularly for New Gurugram. The areas which are along the Dwarka Expressway and Southern Peripheral Road have already witnessed consistent infrastructure growth. With the traffic point of restraint eliminated, buyers as well as investors are expected to show interest once again.
Experts say that locations such as New Gurugram will now be regarded as more accessible, affordable, and aspirational. Developers are looking forward to business and residential property demand to grow, and property values are likely to appreciate in the future. Schools, hospitals, and malls, as part of essential infrastructure, can also develop at an accelerated pace.
Local Voices Welcome the Change
It will make life easier for thousands of people,” said Conscient Infrastructure’s Mohit Agarwal. “The citizens will be more willing to invest here with improved connectivity.” Whiteland Corporation’s Sudeep Bhatt also concurs, saying it is a “game changer” for Gurugram.
It is not merely a traffic solution. It’s one that might re-design Gurugram’s future.
