Monsoon Brings Hope as Heat Grips North India
There have been steamy weeks of heat in North India. Afternoons saw deserted streets, and even the shadow was hostile. But salvation is finally on its way. Delhi saw an unusual turn of events at the weekend gusty showers and gusts lashed the capital on Saturday evening. The city that was simmering under the merciless summer sun finally got a hint of coolness.
This has raised the hopes of the arrival of the monsoon. The Indian Meteorological Department reports that the monsoon would extend to North India in the coming days and provide relief to crores from the heat.
Rain, Winds, and Storms on the Way
There have been some warnings issued by the weather service. Between June 15–21, parts of northwestern India such as Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan will see light to moderate rain, thunderstorm, and lightning. Winds can be expected in most of the regions at 40–50 km/h.
Winds are more powerful in some parts. For example, Rajasthan will witness gusts of 70 km/h and thunderstorms. Punjab, Haryana, and Uttarakhand may witness light rains on June 15. Stormy weather will continue in Rajasthan from June 15 to June 17.

Heavy Rain Forecast in Hills and Plains
It does not stop there. IMD has forecast very heavy to heavy rain in most areas. Uttarakhand will receive a lot of rain between 16 to 21 June. Even Himachal Pradesh will be lashed with heavy rain on June 20 and 21. Even eastern Rajasthan and some areas of Uttar Pradesh need to be prepared for adverse weather between June 18 to 21.
While such showers are helpful, flood points may be impacted as an aftermath. The citizens living in flood-inflicted regions are requested to exercise vigilance.
Rajasthan Fights Dust Storms
Even as the arrival of monsoons is the reason for celebration for most people, Rajasthan has still not been able to deal with nature’s wrath. West Rajasthan on June 15 was lashed with dust storms with a speed of 70 km/h The air was thick and visibility lowered. For the people living there, it was another fight against nature. In north Haryana too, hailstorms are very probable.
