In a shocking incident from Assam, a man named Pratim Bora has been arrested for creating a fake social media account of Arjita Phukan and posting morphed, explicit photos using her face. The arrest took place in Dibrugarh after Phukan’s brother filed a police complaint. Arjita’s ex-boyfriend Bora, who is from Tinsukia, is said to have used her old photos to demean her online.
Bora had been operating the dummy account for a fortnight and posting edited photographs to embarrass Arjita. The police further added that the reason behind this was to harass her once their relationship was over. His act has raised eyebrows, particularly as the photographs became viral within a matter of hours, and the victim was embarrassed and traumatized.
Photos Morphed with American Adult Star, Claims Victim
Arjita Phukan, whose common name is Baby Doll Archi, described how the imposter account had used her own photographs and digitally placed them virtually. She revealed that her head was digitally placed on American adult actress Kendra Lust’s body and posted online. She described how some of her friends and fans were shocked when they knew the images were posted online and called her to inquire if they were genuine photos.
This upset her a great deal because she did not think one so close to her would go this low just for revenge. She declared that it hurt her to see her identity misused in such a degrading manner for the sake of revenge.
Revenge Behind the Crime: Bora Confesses
Bora admitted to all that under police questioning. He told him that he had Photoshopped Arjita’s previous social media pictures in anger when they had broken up. Emotionally vulnerable and depressed, he confessed that he had wished to destroy her aura and serenity.
Under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the police have filed a formal complaint against them. They are also considering to prosecute them under multiple sections of the Information Technology Act for cybercrime, identity theft, defamation, obscenity, and breach of privacy.
Bora was apprehended hiding in a leased apartment in Tinsukia. His laptop and phone are seized and are going through forensic examination. He has been detained by the police and is expected to be presented in court shortly.
The devastating consequences of cyber retaliation and the value of on-line responsibility and protection come home to the reader in that horrific incident.
