Monsoon Is Set To Arrive in Punjab
Punjab weather is altering at a rapid rate. Monsoon is anticipated to arrive in 72 hours. Pre-monsoonal rains have already eased in the form of cooler weather prior to its arrival at its peak strength. Across the state, people have begun to cool down from the heat of the summer. Monsoon winds will be in full play shortly and are expected to bring widespread rain throughout the week, the Meteorological Department said.
The Week’s Rainfall Forecast June 19 – 25
According to the India Meteorological Department, Punjab is likely to receive rain from June 19 to June 25. Very heavy rainfall is forecast on both June 22 and June 25. Some regions may experience heavy localized rainfall on June 21 and 23. It could rain lightly to moderately on June 20 and 24. Strong winds and lightning are also possible in many areas, in addition to rain. As a result of this, a yellow alert is sounded in many districts.
Districts Under Yellow Alert
Yellow alert has been sounded in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala, SAS Nagar, and Sangrur. Today’s rainfall will mostly affect Rupnagar and SAS Nagar. The rain and stormy weather conditions are expected to continue for a few more days.
Heavy Rain and Storm Warnings
By June 20, there may be light to moderate rain and lightning storms at Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib and Patiala, as signaled by the early alert.
Intense rainfall accompanied by strong winds is expected to take place on June 21 and 22 at Ludhiana, Patiala, Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, Amritsar, Sangrur, Rupnagar, and Mansa.
Monsoon to Touch Kerala on June 23
Meteorologists said the monsoon would become active in Punjab on June 23. Most districts are likely to remain rain-doused and storm-swept that day.
Slight Rise in Temperature
In the past 24 hours, there is a rise of approximately 0 point 6 degree Celsius in temperature which is witnessed in the state. But it is close to its normal level.
Residents are urged to stay in touch with weather warnings and attempt not to venture outside during a storm, or when heavy rain is forecast. Persistent rainfall is expected to remain a headache for both farmers and motorists through the end of the week.
