IMD Red Alert Triggers Panic Across Uttar Pradesh
In a shocking change of weather conditions nonstop heavy rain continued for more than sixteen hours and disrupted life completely in Prayagraj and nearby areas of eastern Uttar Pradesh. Roads were filled with water and daily activities were paused as rivers started rising quickly. The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in many districts and has warned that more rainfall with thunder and strong wind is likely to hit in the next few days.
Two Killed as Rain Causes Havoc
The long rain spell has sadly turned deadly. In the Sadiyabad area of Colonelganj a man riding his scooter died after a tree fell on him due to strong wind and wet soil. In another painful case a young woman died in Chhilbila village under Manda when her mud house collapsed because of the constant rain.
Both incidents show that the situation is becoming more dangerous especially for people living in weak or risky buildings.
Temperature Drops Unusual for July
In the middle of summer Prayagraj saw an unexpected drop in temperature. It went from nearly thirty two degrees to under twenty seven degrees in just one day. People felt cold and damp which made it seem more like October instead of July. Though the rain brought relief from heat it also brought serious trouble.

Due to the constant rain water entered many homes and blocked roads in different localities. People faced power cuts for long hours in several places and traffic movement became hard as vehicles were stuck in water. Many trees were uprooted and fell on houses or cars. Rivers Rising Evacuations Begin in Low Lying Areas
Because of heavy rainfall the Ganga Saryu and Gomti rivers have started swelling and reaching danger marks. In Sonbhadra people living near riverbanks are being shifted to safer places. Local teams are keeping a close watch on water levels and there are chances that evacuation may be needed in more places if rain continues.
Rain Likely to Continue Red Alert Till July 18
The red alert from the weather department is now extended until July 18. More than 40 districts are under warning including cities like Lucknow ,Kanpur , Varanasi and Prayagraj. People are being advised to stay at home, avoid stepping out and listen to official alerts and announcements carefully.
Government Deploys Relief Teams
The state government has started taking action fast. Relief teams are on the ground and temporary shelters are being arranged for those affected. Schools will remain shut until conditions improve.
