Monsoon to Return from July 22 Heavy Rains Ahead
Delhi NCR is finally going to get some relief from the ongoing heatwave as the monsoon is set to return starting July 22. After days of dry skies and rising humidity the weather is expected to shift in favour of cooler and wetter conditions. Light to moderate showers will start the week and heavier rainfall is likely to follow as the weekend approaches.
July 22: Showers to Bring First Signs of Relief
On Monday July 22, the monsoon is expected to make a comeback in Delhi NCR. Light or moderate showers, may be seen in different areas ,which can help lower the temperature and make the weather more comfortable. This rainfall might not be very strong but it will signal the beginning of a wetter week ahead.
July 23 to 25: Thunderstorms and More Widespread Rain
Starting Tuesday,the rain is likely to increase in intensity and spread to more parts of the region. Thunderstorms along with gusty winds ,can be expected in some areas. These conditions will help to reduce the temperatures, and may improve the air quality in and around the city.
July 24: Bay of Bengal- Low Pressure to Boost Monsoon Surge
On July 24 a new low pressure system is expected to form over the Bay of Bengal. This system will push the monsoon trough closer to northern parts of India including Delhi NCR. As a result rain activity is expected to pick up and become more regular and widespread.
July 26 to 27: Heaviest Rainfall Likely Over the Weekend
The rain is expected to peak between Friday and Saturday, July 26 and 27. During this period Delhi NCR may experience the heaviest and most continuous rainfall of the season so far. This wet spell might continue into the start of next week and may cause some waterlogging in low lying areas so residents should plan accordingly.
Monsoon Setup Shifts in Favour of Rain
At present, there are no strong weather systems directly over Delhi ,but a weakening cyclonic circulation and an approaching western disturbance have caused the monsoon trough to move north. This shift is helping to create the right conditions for rain, to return to the region.

Delhi NCR, is likely to see a pleasant change in the weather , as the monsoon returns on July 22.The early part of the week may have some lighter showers.
