The farmers of Sambhal district were given the last chance to insure their Kharif crops under PM Fasal Bima Yojana 2025. Enrollment in the program closes July 31, 2025. If not insured, farmers could suffer major losses from sudden natural disasters.
This Kharif crop insurance plan offers insurance for major Kharif crops like paddy, makka (maize), bajra (millet), and urad. Loanee or non-loanee, the farmers belonging to both groups can take part in this plan and enjoy benefits.
Crop Covered Under the Scheme
As per the Agriculture Department, four crops have been brought under insurance in Sambhal district:
Paddy
Maize
Millet/Bajra
Urad
These crops are commonly cultivated in the district. which are vulnerable to drought, floods, intense rains, and severe weather.
Why Crop Insurance Matters Most for Farmers in 2025
With the weather becoming more and more unpredictable with each passing year, the threat of crop loss is growing. Even this year, irregular rains and floods had already hit most areas of India. If the crop is lost by the farmer, his family’s livelihood and his entire income are in jeopardy.
To prevent such accidents, PMFBY provides financial security. Compensation is provided to the farmer if the crop is destroyed by weather or disease. It is not just a scheme, it’s a safety net for the farmer.
Continuous Awareness Campaign: “Insure Crops, Stay Safe”
The Agriculture Department is spreading awareness – “Fasal Bima Karao, Suraksha Kavach Pao” to encourage farmers to get themselves registered in time. They are also ensuring that the farmers become aware of the scheme and how they can be protected against huge financial shocks.
Insurance Company and Complaint Helpline
This year, Sambhal scheme is being operated by IFFCO Tokio General Insurance Company Ltd. Any farmer, if having any problem related to crop loss, can call the free-phone number 14447 and lodge their complaint. In this way, they get assistance earlier and in a timely manner.
What Farmers Should Do Now
Farmers may visit their nearby bank, common service centre (CSC), or agriculture office and fill in their crop insurance application by July 31, 2025. They will repent later if they delay it too much or miss it in the event of a poor yield.
