New Rules from August 2025: With the beginning of August 2025, many important changes are being implemented for crores of bank customers, digital payment users, and drivers of the country. These changes will affect everything from UPI to Fastag and select credit cards of SBI. In such a situation, if you also use these services, then it is important to understand these new rules so that there is no inconvenience.
First of all, let’s talk about Unified Payments Interface, i.e., UPI. From August 1, 2025, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has implemented some new guidelines to reduce the load on the UPI platform. Under this, limits have been set on how many times users can check their balance in a day. Apart from this, changes have also been made in the rules regarding services like AutoPay mandates and address verification. These rules will have a direct impact on crores of users of apps like Paytm, PhonePe, and Google Pay.
On the other hand, a new facility has also been started for private drivers. From August 15, the central government has launched a new Fastag annual pass, which will cost Rs 3,000. Under this pass, 200 toll transactions or one year validity – whichever is earlier – will be facilitated. However, this pass is optional. Those who do not want to take it can pay toll under the existing system.
SBI credit card users will also have to face a change from August 11. The bank is removing air accident insurance cover from many of its co-branded cards, like Elite and Prime. Earlier, insurance cover of up to ₹ 1 crore was available free with these cards, which will now be discontinued.
Finally, Punjab National Bank has appealed to its customers to update their KYC by August 8, 2025. For accounts whose KYC is pending till June 30, it is necessary to update it before time, otherwise the operation of the account may be disrupted.
The aim of all these changes is to strengthen the digital infrastructure, but common users will have to remain cautious and take advantage of their transactions and banking services.
