Madhya Pradesh Weather Alert: These days, the sky in Madhya Pradesh is covered with clouds, and the rain is not stopping. The weather department has issued an alert of heavy rain in 23 districts and very heavy rain in three districts—Dewas, Khandwa, and Burhanpur. It is estimated that more than half of the state may receive rain on Independence Day, due to which programs are likely to be disrupted at many places.
Clouds will rain from the sky in Dewas, Khandwa, and Burhanpur
According to meteorologists, Dewas, Khandwa, and Burhanpur may receive up to 8.5 inches of rain in the next 24 hours. At the same time, there is a possibility of up to 4.5 inches of rain in Indore, Ujjain, Khargone, Barwani, Dhar, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Ratlam, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Sehore, Harda, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Betul, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Jabalpur, Balaghat, Mandla, and Dindori. Light rain will continue in the capital, Bhopal, Gwalior, and other districts.
Latest rain situation: 2.75 inches in Pachmarhi, 1.5 inches in Guna
Rain continued in many parts of the state on Thursday as well. 2.75 inches in Pachmarhi, 1.5 inches in Guna, and half an inch in Indore. Many districts, including Betul, Datia, Narmadapuram, Rajgarh, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Tikamgarh, and Shajapur, remained cloudy, and it rained intermittently.
Security increased in Bhopal, and drone surveillance will be done on Independence Day
Meanwhile, security arrangements have also been tightened in the capital, Bhopal, for Independence Day. More than two thousand soldiers are deployed, and the presence of additional security forces has been increased at the bus stand and railway station. The city will be monitored by drones so that any kind of untoward incident can be prevented.
Science behind rain: Trough, cyclonic circulation, and low-pressure system are active
Senior meteorologist Dr. Divya E. Surendran said that at present, a trough line is passing through Madhya Pradesh. Along with this, an active monsoon trough and three cyclonic circulation systems are also affecting. The activity of the low-pressure area is also fast, due to which the pace of rain is maintained.
The state reaches close to average rainfall
The average annual rainfall of Madhya Pradesh is 37 inches. So far, 30.3 inches of water has fallen, which is 82 percent of the season’s quota. Only 6.7 inches more rain is needed to complete this figure. At the same time, 6.4 inches more water has rained so far compared to last year, that is, a total of 23.9 inches.
No relief expected till August 17
The Meteorological Department says that the series of heavy rains is likely to continue till August 17. This means that in the coming days, rivers and drains will be in spate in many areas, and waterlogging may also occur in rural areas.
People will have to be cautious
In view of the possibility of heavy and very heavy rains, the administration has appealed to the people to be cautious. People living in low-lying areas have been advised to move to safer places. Farmers have also been asked to take necessary steps to deal with the situation of waterlogging in the fields.
At present, Madhya Pradesh is in the peak phase of the rainy season. While on one hand it is news of relief for crops and water resources, on the other hand, continuous rain can also affect people’s daily routine and big events like Independence Day.
