Bihar Weather Alert: This Independence Day weather in Bihar is going to show some different colors. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate rain may occur in some parts of North Bihar on Friday, August 15. At the same time, drizzle with lightning is also likely in South Bihar. Heavy rain is expected at one or two places in the south-eastern districts of the state.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for 18 districts, including Patna, Bhagalpur, Purnia, Gaya, and Begusarai. This warning is especially important because Independence Day programs are organized in the open at many places, and the risk of strong winds and lightning can pose a challenge to the safety of people.
Possibility of partial clouds, thunder, and rain in Patna
The sky will be partially cloudy in the capital, Patna, on Friday. The Meteorological Department has predicted rain and lightning with thunder at one or two places here. People have been advised to stay away from open places and take shelter in a safe place in case of a thunderstorm or lightning.
Yellow alert issued in these districts
According to the Patna Meteorological Center, a yellow alert has been issued in Patna, Jehanabad, Gaya, Nawada, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Jamui, Banka, Munger, Begusarai, Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Katihar, Purnia, Kishanganj, Araria, Supaul, Madhepura, and Saharsa districts on Friday.
Winds can blow at a speed of 30–40 kmph in these areas. There may also be incidents of thunderstorms and lightning along with strong gusts. Farmers and common citizens have been asked to remain alert.
The last 24 hours’ situation
In the last 24 hours, light to moderate rain was recorded in 5 districts of Bihar. Saharsa received the highest rainfall of 2.1 mm.
A big change has also been seen in the temperature. The maximum temperature of the state increased by 5 degrees Celsius. Valmiki Nagar in West Champaran recorded the highest temperature of 34°C, while Gaya and Vaishali recorded the lowest temperature of 25°C.
Sudden rise in temperature in Patna
Since Thursday morning, the sky in Patna has remained clear and sunny. Due to bright sunshine, the maximum temperature suddenly increased by 4.9°C. On this day, the maximum temperature of Patna was 32.6°C and the minimum was 26°C.
However, the weather is likely to change on Friday, and the effect of clouds and rain can be seen in many districts, including the capital.
Why is a yellow alert necessary?
A yellow alert means that the weather conditions may take a dangerous turn, even if it is not severe everywhere. The purpose of this warning is to alert people and prepare them to avoid possible damage.
Lightning becomes a big problem every year during the monsoon in Bihar. According to statistics, dozens of people die every year in the state due to lightning, especially in rural areas.
Plans for Independence Day programs may change
Due to this forecast, organizers will have to be cautious about Independence Day programs in many districts. Rain may make the weather pleasant, but lightning and thunderstorms are a big threat to people’s safety.
The Meteorological Department has advised people not to stand under trees during thunderstorms, stay away from open fields, and avoid going near water sources. The State Disaster Management Team has also been put on alert.
Weather ahead
Monsoon is likely to remain active in Bihar in the coming week. This rain will be beneficial for farmers, but problems like waterlogging and traffic jams may increase in cities.
Whether Independence Day is celebrated in sunshine or rain, the tricolor will flutter in the sky—only this time, thundering clouds and drizzle may also be included in the background.
