Hyundai has introduced its new generation hybrid powertrain system, which will be used in many of its vehicles in the coming time. This new system will see a great improvement in both the mileage and performance of the cars. Let’s understand in simple language what is new in this technology and how customers will benefit from it.

How is the new hybrid system?

Two electric motors have been installed in this hybrid system of Hyundai – P1 and P2.

The job of the P1 motor is to charge the battery, start the engine and give extra power when needed.

The P2 motor is used to drive the car and generates energy back when braking (called regenerative braking).

With these two motors, gear shifting in the car will now be smoother than ever and noise and vibration will also be felt less. This technology can be easily installed in Hyundai’s existing cars as it can be combined with the company’s existing petrol engine.

What kind of cars will the new system come in?

The new hybrid powertrain is capable of delivering power ranging from 100 PS to more than 300 PS. That is, it can be used in small hatchback cars to large SUVs.

New experience with the new 2.5-liter turbo petrol engine

Hyundai is introducing this hybrid system with its new 2.5-liter turbo petrol engine. This new engine is more powerful and efficient than the old engine. A special type of “over-expansion cycle” has been used in it, in which the gas pressure inside the engine is better controlled, which gives more power in less fuel.

    • Power is available up to 334 PS, which is 19% more than before.
    • The torque has increased to 460 Nm, which is 9% more.
    • Mileage is now up to 14.1 km/l, which is an increase of about 45%.

Apart from this, the company has also developed a new 1.6 liter turbo petrol hybrid system, which is for mid-size SUVs and gives 4% more mileage.

More new technologies in the coming time

    • Hyundai also said that it will bring more new technologies in the upcoming cars:
    • e-AWD system: Which will drive the rear wheels of the car with a separate motor.
