Work on the third rail line between Gorakhpur-Domingarh, 42 trains cancelled: Passengers will face major inconvenience

Trains cancelled: Trains will be affected on a large scale in the last days of September. From Gorakhdham Express to long-distance trains will remain closed. Northeast Railway has speeded up the work of laying the third line between Gorakhpur and Domingarh station.

This project has been started to improve the rail facilities of the region and to handle the increasing passenger pressure. But due to this work, the operation of many important trains passing through Gorakhpur will be disrupted till the end of September. Railways have made it clear that due to interlocking work, the movement of trains will not be normal from September 21 to September 30.

42 trains, including Gorakhdham Express cancelled

The railway administration has said that a total of 42 trains have been completely cancelled during this period. Among these, the Gorakhdham Express going from Gorakhpur to Bathinda is prominent. Apart from this, many superfast and express trains going from Gorakhpur to Anand Vihar, Mumbai, Pune, Bandra, and Panvel will also be affected. This decision was definitely difficult in view of the huge crowd of passengers, but there was no way around it until the technical work was completed.

The effect will be clearly visible on long-distance trains as well. Popular trains like Katihar, Darbhanga, Chhapra, and Yeshwantpur will also either be canceled or will run on limited routes. Due to this, passengers going towards Bihar, Jharkhand, South India, and Maharashtra will have to change their plans.

Many trains will run on changed routes

Railways have also made arrangements that some trains should not be completely stopped, but they should be run on alternative routes. For this reason, Vaishali Express, Bihar Sampark Kranti Express, Gwalior-Barauni Express, Awadh Express, and Kamakhya Express will be removed from their regular route and sent to other routes. These trains will now reach their destination via Ayodhya, Varanasi, Sultanpur, Prayagraj, and Kanpur.

This change may take more time for the passengers, but at least their journey will not be completely disrupted. Railways argue that if some trains are run on alternative routes, passengers can get partial relief, and necessary connectivity will remain.

Some trains will stop mid-way

The destination of some express trains has also been temporarily changed. The express from Gorakhpur to Thiruvananthapuram will run only till Gomtinagar for a few days. Similarly, trains running for Charlapalli and Yeshwantpur will also not reach Gorakhpur but will start from Gomtinagar and end there. Due to this, passengers traveling far away will have to complete their journey by an additional train or bus.

Direct impact on passengers

It is clear that this entire work will directly affect thousands of passengers. Trains leaving from Gorakhpur daily connect eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, and South India. In such a situation, due to the sudden stoppage of trains on such a large scale, passengers will have to reconsider their travel plans.

Railways have already issued a notice and alerted the passengers. An appeal has been made that those who want to travel in the last days of September must check the updated status of the trains before booking tickets.

Why is this work necessary?

Railway officials say that after the construction of the third line on the Gorakhpur-Domingarh section, the traffic pressure will reduce and the movement of trains will become smooth. At present, the burden of trains on the double line is very high. The construction of the third line will not only increase the speed of trains but will also ensure punctuality.

Advice to passengers

Experts believe that during this period, if passengers have to travel long distances, they should consider trains running on alternative routes, bus services, or air tickets. Connectivity will remain at major junctions like Gorakhpur, Lucknow, and Varanasi, so that passengers can complete their journey with some extra time and expense.
