Upcoming Tata SUVs to Watch Out for in the Next 18 Months – Harrier EV, Sierra Twins & Avinya

Tata Motors is going to play big bets one after the other in the SUV segment. Within the next one and a half years, the company is preparing to launch four tremendous vehicles in the Indian market. These include Harrier EV, Tata Sierra (EV and ICE versions) and luxury lineup Avinya. These vehicles will not only have strong power but will also be completely high-tech in terms of features. Let’s know about these upcoming SUVs of Tata one by one.
1. Tata Harrier EV – Tata’s first electric Harrier will knock soon
Tata’s famous SUV Harrier is now going to come in electric avatar and its launch can happen in a few weeks. The company introduced it for the first time at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, where it was highly appreciated. Harrier EV has been built on an advanced electric platform, which can come in single and dual motor variants. The special thing is that the dual motor version will get the support of all-wheel drive (AWD), which can make this SUV a great option for cities as well as off-roading.
The estimated driving range of this SUV can be more than 500 km and the torque output can also go above 500 Nm. That is, this EV is going to be very powerful in terms of performance.
2. Tata Sierra – A strong comeback of an iconic SUV
Tata’s iconic SUV Sierra is going to return once again, that too with a completely new design and powerful engine. This vehicle will come in two versions – one electric and one ICE (petrol / diesel) variant. At the Auto Expo held in New Delhi in January 2025, Tata introduced its near production model, which looked very attractive in terms of design.
The company can first launch the EV version, only after that the models with petrol and diesel engines will come in the market. Tata has already done this with the Curvv SUV – first electric and later ICE version.
3. Tata Sierra ICE – Option of both petrol and diesel engines
The ICE version of Sierra will be for those customers who prefer traditional fuel engines. It can get a 2.0 liter diesel engine, which will give around 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque. For transmission, it is likely to be given 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic (torque converter) gearbox.
Apart from this, Tata can also bring a new 1.5 liter turbo petrol engine, which will be capable of giving power up to about 168 PS. This engine has been discussed for a long time and now it is believed that the company can use it for the first time through Sierra ICE.
4. Tata Avinya Series – Tata’s luxury EV series, but a little wait is left
A premium electric car series of Tata is also coming named Avinya, which has been designed keeping in mind the global market. However, the launch of this project may be delayed as Jaguar Land Rover (which is a Tata company) has currently put production on hold at its EV plant in India. The reason behind this is the shortage of some components and a slight decline in the demand for electric vehicles.
So the Avinya series may take a little more time to hit the roads, but when it does, it will set new standards in design, technology and range.
These models will also be great in features and technology
Out of these four SUVs, Harrier EV and Sierra EV can be given many premium features, including:
- Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems)
- 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system
- Digital instrument cluster
- Panoramic sunroof
- Ventilated front seats
- Wireless charging, 360-degree camera, and more.
