Two Mysterious Changan EVs Spotted in India – NEVO E07 and Deepal S07 Raise Questions About Launch Plans

The demand for electric vehicles in the country has increased rapidly in the last few years. Every day some new brand is trying to enter this segment. So far, companies like Tata, Mahindra and MG have made their mark in the Indian market, but now foreign companies are also becoming active seeing the possibilities here.

Meanwhile, two unknown electric cars were seen being carried on a transport truck in Murshidabad district of West Bengal, which has created a new stir among automobile lovers.

Foreign electric cars seen in Murshidabad – where did they come from and where were they going?

Auto expert and enthusiast photographer Tauheedur Rahman saw these vehicles tied to the truck and shared their pictures on social media. Later it became clear that these vehicles belong to China’s famous automobile company Changan Automobile, one of which was Changan NEVO E07 and the other Deepal S07.

Changan is a government company of China, which manufactures electric and petrol vehicles around the world through its many sub-brands. Deepal is also a brand of this, which is known for making high-tech and futuristic electric SUVs.

Are these vehicles going to be launched in India?

The question in everyone’s mind is whether these vehicles are being brought for the Indian market? Currently, Changan company is not running any kind of official sales or service network in India. Although a few years ago Changan had planned to open an office and enter India, but it could not move forward.

So it is likely that these vehicles are going through India during transit to Nepal. Changan is already active in Nepal and vehicles are sent there by road through Indian states like West Bengal and Bihar.

Changan NEVO E07 – An electric vehicle with a unique design

E07 is a vehicle that looks like a mix of SUV and pickup truck. Its design is quite modern and attractive. It has a hidden flat loading space at the back and also gets an electronic cover, which gives it a luxury touch. Its styling looks somewhat similar to Audi’s Activesphere concept, which was much talked about for its design.

This model comes in two variants –

1. EREV (Extended Range EV): It has a 1.5 liter petrol engine which is used only for charging the battery. It has a 39.05 kWh battery.

2. BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle): It has a large 90 kWh battery which can run up to 701 km on full charge. Its power is up to 590 bhp and it catches the speed of 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.69 seconds.

Deepal S07 – An advanced SUV, with Huawei technology

Deepal S07 comes in a more traditional SUV look but it is quite advanced in terms of features. It gets Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS) developed by Huawei, which makes it even more special in terms of safety and automation.

It is also available in two versions –

1. EREV version – Same engine and battery system as NEVO E07

2. BEV version – It has an 80 kWh battery, which gives a range of 628 km. Its look and technology may be liked by the youth.

Will Indian customers get these cars?

Nothing is confirmed at the moment. Neither the company has given any official statement nor any kind of testing news has come out. The only possibility is that these vehicles are being sent to Nepal and their launch in India has not been thought of yet. But if Changan enters India in the coming time, then both these vehicles can bring good competition in India’s premium EV segment.
