Munawar Farooqui Attack Plot Foiled: Police in Delhi foiled a major plot to attack stand-up comedian and reality show host Munawar Farooqui. According to reports, the Delhi Police Special Cell arrested two shooters during an encounter on Jaitpur-Kalindi Kunj Road on Thursday. Both shooters are said to be associated with the Rohit Godara-Goldy Brar-Virendra Charan gang.
How was the attack plot hatched?
According to an NDTV report, comedian Munawar Farooqui was allegedly targeted by the gang for telling jokes about Hindu deities. During interrogation, the arrested shooters revealed that they received instructions from the gang leaders—Rohit Godara and Goldy Brar—from abroad. Both gangsters currently operate their network from Canada and other countries.
Identification and Arrest of the Shooters
Police stated that the arrested accused have been identified as 29-year-old Rahul (resident of Panipat, Haryana) and 37-year-old Sahil (resident of Bhiwani, Haryana). Both were tasked with killing Munawar Farooqui. Based on intelligence input, the police laid a trap, and as the two arrived on a bike, they were shot in the legs in an encounter and overpowered. Weapons and a motorcycle were also recovered from the scene.
Had Conducted a Recce Previously
The arrested shooters confessed during interrogation that they had previously conducted recce of Munawar Farooqui in Mumbai and Bengaluru. An attempt was even made to attack him in Bengaluru, but Farooqui changed cars at that time, and the plot failed.
Gang’s Increasing Pressure on Celebrities
Investigations have revealed that this gangster syndicate is constantly trying to increase its influence over celebrities and their areas. Previously, this gang has threatened several celebrities. Recently, the gang’s name also surfaced in the firing incident outside actress Disha Patani’s home in Bareilly.
