Stellantis to Introduce Leapmotor Electric Vehicles in India by 2025: A New Era for EV Mobility

Stellantis is going to bring Leapmotor brand electric cars into India. Leapmotor electric cars were previously rumored to be brought into India towards the end of 2024, but this timeline has now been revised for 2025. Stellantis had planned a joint venture with Chinese player Leapmotor back in 2023, when Stellantis will be exporting Leapmotor electric cars outside of China. The company is attempting to generate employment in the category of electric mobility in India by entering into a partnership with BYD.

Leapmotor unveiled only the Range B10 SUV at the 2024 Paris Motor Show. The new SUV can be an optimal choice for the Indian market based on its new-generation features and cutting-edge technology.
Shailesh Hajela, CEO and Managing Director, Stellantis India, mentioned Leapmotor’s EVs are designed particularly for young India and new-generation consumers who appreciate technology, comfort and eco-friendly safety.

Leapmotor has a compact electric hatchback vehicle called T03 and an SUV called C10. T03 is a compact vehicle, which has a length of approximately 3.6 meters and has a range of up to 265 kilometers per charge. Leapmotor vehicles are on the radar to replace vehicles like Tata Tiago EV and MG Comet EV in India. The vehicle is designed to drive through a city, where the residents require a compact and light electric vehicle.

C10 is a mid-SUV with dimensions comparable to popular cars like XUV700 in India. Two powertrains are offered with the SUV – both being range-extender electric as well as full electric. The vehicle will debut on Indian roads considering SUV-fans that are targeted consumers.

Leapmotor’s new model is the B10 SUV, which is comparable in size to Hyundai Creta and Maruti Grand Vitara. The car is creating a buzz in the international market due to its advanced technology, including Lidar-based autonomous driving system. In the meantime, Leapmotor unveiled a new electric sedan model B01 during Auto Shanghai in 2025, indicating the direction of the company’s future.

No announcement has been made so far regarding which Leapmotor cars would be coming to India, but it is believed that the first to be launched would be the T03 model. Stellantis is all set to introduce Leapmotor’s electric cars among Indian buyers by the end of 2025. It will introduce new competition among Indian electric car consumers and consumers would get more choices.

With this, this collaboration of Leapmotor and Stellantis will provide a new direction to India’s electric vehicle industry, which will foster electric mobility and will also lead to a big leap towards environmental preservation.
