Isuzu D-Max EV : Isuzu has introduced the electric version of its reliable and powerful pickup truck D-Max to the world for the first time. This new electric model has been named “Isuzu D-Max EV” and it was recently officially unveiled during the Commercial Vehicle Show 2025 (CV Show) held in the UK. This vehicle caught the attention of the people in this event and now it is being discussed all over the world.
Isuzu has started production of D-Max EV in Thailand, from where it will be exported to many markets around the world. This vehicle is the company’s first fully electric one ton pickup and has been specially designed keeping in mind those countries where strict emission norms are applicable for the environment.
No change in design and body styling
From the outside, this vehicle looks similar to the existing diesel version. Its body design and overall styling are almost the same as before. Only a few minor changes have been made such as blue highlights in the grille and headlights and EV badges that give it an electric identity. It is available in two versions – Double Cab and Extended Cab, of which the Double Cab variant will be the most popular as it offers more space and practicality.
Electric Powertrain and Performance Details
The Isuzu D-Max EV has two electric motors – one at the front and one at the rear. The rear motor generates 130 horsepower and 217 Nm of torque, while the front motor produces 58 horsepower and 108 Nm of torque. Together, the vehicle gets a total of 188 horsepower and 325 Nm of torque. Due to this, this pickup accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 10.1 seconds and its top speed is above 130 km/h.
Battery, Range and Charging Time
This electric vehicle has a 66.9 kWh lithium ion battery. It can be charged with a DC fast charger at a maximum speed of 50 kW. If you charge the battery from 20% to 80%, it takes about an hour. On the other hand, if you want to charge the battery from 0 to 100% with a normal AC charger, it will take about 10 hours. Once fully charged, this vehicle can travel up to 263 km according to WLTP testing.
Suspension and driving experience have been improved
The company has strengthened its chassis a bit more so that the weight of the heavy battery can be handled properly. Apart from this, a big change has also been made in the rear suspension – where there was leaf spring suspension earlier, now it has been replaced by De-Dion type suspension which helps in giving better handling and smooth ride.
Subtle changes in the interior
There is no major difference to be seen in the cabin, but some things have been changed specifically according to the EV model. Like some EV-specific graphics and range information can be shown in the instrument cluster and infotainment system. The rest of the dashboard and interior layout have been kept the same as found in the diesel model.Launch timeline and availability
At present, the company is producing only the left-hand drive version. Its first shipment will leave for the European markets in the third quarter (Q3 2025). At the same time, the production of the right-hand drive version will start at the end of the year and its delivery will be done from March 2026.
This model will not be launched in India
The company has not made any plans to bring this electric pickup truck to India at present. A big reason for this can also be that the Indian market has not yet developed a strong demand or charging infrastructure for electric pickups.
