To prevent Fraud in free Ration to the people of India under the Food Security Act, the Madhya Pradesh Government took a big step. Recently, to avoid any ration being delivered to the wrong hands, the state Government started a special campaign ” e-KYC “. With this step taken by the Government, so far, a total of 15 lakh cardholders have been removed. As per the Government, these 15 lakh have not been seen to connect their ration in the last 4 months, or they are no longer Alive.

e-KYC not updated for 83 Lakh people

Since the campaign started, the Government’s ” Food Department ” has discovered multiple fraud.

  • Around 83 Lakh people have not yet done e-KYC for the Ration Card.
  • 3 – 4 lakh people’s Ration Cards are either Fake or Duplicate.
  • Multiple duplicate names are registered in different Areas.
  • Most of the people haven’t come to collect rations for years.

Government is removing all the people who are falling under this category in order to avoid the food going to the wrong hand. Government will update a new list of the people for a better reach.

The government is running this campaign “e-KYC” till 31 May, where everyone needs to update their ration card with Aadhaar Card. This is biometric based verification, so that only the verified people can get the actual benefit of the Free Ration Scheme. This is a great initiative by the government in order to prevent any fraud of Ration.

As per the sources, this is the quantity of free ration provided in the state.

  • 2.90 Lakh tonnes of food grains every Month
  • Rice: 1.74 Lakh Tonnes
  • Wheat: 1.16 Lakh Tonnes

After the campaign, the Center received a notice from the Government to decrease the rice quota and Increase for Wheat.
