A Farmer’s Dream Becomes A Reality: Bihar Govt Announces 75% Subsidy on Cattle Insurance
Rajesh is a midnight oil-burning dairy farmer in Bihar. He spent most of his years worrying about his cattle. His livelihoods were dependent on cows as milk contributed to his family and income for his household. But every time he heard of yet another farmer who had lost their cattle due to diseases fear gripped him.
Veterinary expenses were high and buying a new cow after a loss seemed impossible. One fine day he heard about the government scheme which changed everything the Bihar Dairy Cattle Insurance Scheme’s 72% subsidy on cattle insurance.
A miracle for Rajesh and thousands like him. This is the promise of the newly launched scheme by the government of Bihar through the Animal and Fisheries Resources Department. The scheme was intended to safeguard dairy farmers from drinking devastating financial losses.
For the first time in their lives, farmers could insure their cattle at a ridiculously low price so that one single disease outbreak would not ruin their efforts.
Government Covers 75% of Insurance Costs.
The scheme is rather meant to reduce the burden of a farmer. Normally it can be expensive to insure a dairy co but henceforth 25 percent of the premium amount shall be paid by the farmer and the government’s share will be 75 percent.
If a cow costs ₹60,000, then the premium at a 3.5% rate is ₹2,100. The government gives ₹1,575 out of this, and the farmer has to pay only ₹525. This small amount guarantees that all farmers regardless of their economic situation can get protection for the livestock they own.
Protection from Deadly Cattle Diseases
Sudden death of cattle due to Lumpy Skin Disease etc and HSBQ (Hemorrhagic Septicemia Black Quarter) is the heaviest blow to dairy farmers. One sick cow could mean the collapse of a farmer’s livelihood. Not only the insurance policy but also the sense of relief that comes with ensuring that farmers can get compensation in cases of loss.
The scheme covers only those who belong to the milk producing cooperative societies. This is meant to keep the quality of insured livestock high. However only healthy cattle are eligible with a veterinary health certificate required before approval.
Easy Online Application Procedure
It is for the first time that for this time farmers do not have to visit the government offices anymore for unnecessary paperwork. It is all digital now. Farmers can apply by registering themselves at the Directorate of Cow Development’s official website https://dairy.bihar.gov.in
To accomplish all this from their homes. They simply need to upload the necessary documents It transforms everything into transparency and efficiency.
A Safe Future for Farmers in Bihar
It is much more than just insurance for Rajesh and thousands of dairy farmers. This scheme is indeed a promise of financial security, stability and hope for better times ahead. Bihar is now talking about the strong and resilient dairy industry structures in which no farmer will ever have to fear losing his livelihood again.
