Often when we go to a restaurant, we order something like butter chicken, which is very famous from children to adults. So in today’s article, we have brought for you a very simple restaurant-style butter chicken recipe, which you can prepare in minutes. So let’s quickly see what ingredients I will need to make butter chicken.

Ingredients for making butter chicken :

  • Boneless chicken—500 grams
  • Curd—1/2 cup
  • Ginger-garlic paste—1 tablespoon
  • Lemon juice—1 tablespoon
  • Red chili powder—1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric—1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt—according to taste
  • Butter—2 tablespoons
  • Oil—1 tablespoon
  • Tomatoes—3 medium (chopped)
  • Cashews—10-12
  • Green chili – 1
  • Ginger—1 piece
  • Garlic—4-5 cloves
  • Kashmiri red chili powder—1 tsp
  • Kasuri methi—1 tsp
  • Garam masala—1/2 tsp
  • Cream—1/4 cup
  • Salt—as per taste
  • Sugar—1 tsp (optional)

How to Make Butter Chicken :

In a bowl, mix curd, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, red chili powder, turmeric, and salt. Add chicken pieces and mix well. Marinate in the fridge for at least 1 hour (or overnight). Heat some oil in a pan and fry the marinated chicken till it turns light golden and cooked. Keep aside. Heat 1 tbsp butter and 1 tbsp oil in a pan. Add ginger, garlic, green chili, and chopped tomatoes. Add cashews and cook for 7-8 minutes until tomatoes become soft. Cool and grind in a mixer to make a smooth puree. Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a pan. Add the ground puree and cook for 5-6 minutes. Now add red chili powder, kasuri methi, salt, garam masala, and some sugar. Mix well and add the roasted chicken again.

Finally, add cream and cook on low flame for 2-3 minutes. Add some more cream and butter on top. Serve butter chicken with hot butter naan, tandoori roti, cumin rice, or steamed rice. You can increase the amount of fresh cashews for a creamier taste. Crush kasuri methi with your hands and add it so that the aroma comes out well. The longer the marinating time, the tastier the chicken will be.
