BYD’s Super E-Platform: 400 KM Range with Just 5 Minutes of Charging – A Game Changer for EVs

BYD Super E-Platform
BYD (Build you Dream) has come up with a great and unique charging platform which will charge the car battery in 5 minutes.
BYD Super E – Platform
The biggest concern for electric car owners is about two things namely battery charging and driving range. And BYD has solved this problem and came up with a new and upgraded technology. In this article at Chandigarh Breaking you will get to know all details about BYD new amazing technology.
Technology of BYD
Chinese auto manufacturers have introduced a new technology which has shaken the market. The company claims that this platform or technology will charge an electric car in just 5 minutes and the car will be able to cover the distance of 400 km which is about 250 miles. This is the very big achievement the brand has gained and a very good news for the EV industry.
The information about the platform was shared by BYD founder and chairman Wang Chunafu during a live stream event from the company’s Shenzhen Headquarters on March 17th, 2025. The company has named it the Super E-platform.
However, Tesla introduced its supercharger network a decade ago.
BYD New Platform – Works at a speed of 1000 volts and its charging speed is up to 1000 kilowatts i.e. 1 megawatt which is a game changer for the industry.
Tesla supercharger works at a maximum of 500 KW which offers a range of 171 miles in 15 minutes which is way too less than BYD. BYD’s new platform gives a strong range to the car in 3 times less time than Tesla.
Due to this, it is being stated that BYD’s new platform can charge a car battery in 1/10 of an hour or 6 minutes which is not possible in the real scenario.
This is not possible in the real world because after 80% of charging, the charging speed decreases significantly i.e. is enough to give 70-80% of charge to the battery. Therefore, it will take more time to charge 100% fully.
Superchargers are Dangerous BYD?
The supercharger BYD provides current to the battery which is of high voltage and can be harmful to the batteries which are made of NMC (nickel manganese cobalt), LFP ( lithium iron phosphate).
The batteries made from these chemicals can heat up rapidly which can cause a risk of fire or battery draining quickly.
BYD Blade Battery
BYD uses a self developed BLADE battery technology which is designed according to their super e- platform. The battery design is primitive with flat structure making it better than cylinder and pause design batteries used by other automobile players.
Apart from this BYD has also produced its own battery, chips and power electronics which helps them to use a super e- platform for 1000V battery to motor together.
Availability of BYD technology
This technology will be available on two cars namely – L sedan and Tang L SUV. The price is 270,000 yuan (INR 30 Lakh) and 280000 (33.5 Lakh) respectively. In both these cars the company has used advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS) including roof-mounted LiDAR sensors and acceleration that competes with luxury sports cars.
