Anurag Kashyaps caste comments have ignited an ongoing explanation storm of apology backlash.
The latest brand of trouble which struck the innovator of Indian cinema with his utterly true story telling raw reality is Anurag Kashyap and this trouble came because a comment he made while promoting his film Phule on caste recently went viral. He then said that after the statement his family and friends began to receive threats .Hence the claim was that his family and friends received threats for what he said, which led to the subsequent public and immediate apology.
No caste system ? Kashyap’s post sparks ire.
Everything that ignited was a media speculation that Phule was cut by censor on its strong caste subject. This was followed by Kashyap who attacked the actual cuts by the censor alleging and ridiculing claims that caste system in India actually existed anymore. He wrote, “If caste is gone then why do names like Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai even matter today?”
This incited an immediate and violent outrage primarily against certain communities whose claims made it as if he was being insensitive. One derogatory comment made by some user hence gave room for Kashyap to have a fiery one liner reply-and that reply became the crux of the controversy. He later apologized saying that his statement has got unintended consequences.
Not New to Scandals, Repetitive Tread – #MeToo wave
It is not the case that it is the first time with Kashyap. Earlier also during the #MeToo wave he was caught in the crossfire for not attending to the case of one such employee in Phantom Films on whose co foundation he was. After making these allegations Kashyap put a statement in front during which he professed that certain things within the company were wrong and shut it down.
The actress who made the headlines in 2020 was Payal Ghosh because of the claims regarding the sexual molestation that were thrown against him. He defended himself against all the allegations claiming that he never misbehaved with women or will do so.
Nepotism, Bollywood and Bitter Tweets
The talk about nepotism involved him during the furore following the death of Sushant Singh Rajput and thereafter came into conflict with other stars such as Ranvir Shorey and Kangana Ranaut. Their drama turned public and became part of Twitter catching the attention of many and spurring much of the fanbase war on social media.

Kashyap’s conflict with the censor board is the most typical among Bollywoods many battles against censorship. When Udta Punjab would release the Bombay High Court eventually ruled in favor of him and allowed very minor cuts in the film.
