Chandigarh Dumping Ground Fire Sparks Panic, Puts Nearby Residents at Risk Again

Chandigarh Dump Yard Fire

The Chandigarh dumping ground is located near a densely populated area. It is not as big as the Delhi Dumping Ground, but it can also cause some serious issues for the people living in the nearby area.

On Saturday evening, a fire broke out in a dumping ground in Chandigarh. A large smoke and flames were seen in the nearby areas ( Residential Area ) of the Dumping Ground, creating a panic mode in the city. Due to the bad weather in Chandigarh at that time, the flames were going everywhere around that city due to strong winds.

The reason for the fire is still not certain, and no official report has been out yet. But the flames were there till late at night. And even when the flames were brought under control, the smoke spread like water all around the city. Ten Fire tenders were called for the service to bring the fire under control. A thorough investigation of the situation is yet to happen.

The dumping ground is spread over 45.11 acres of land, and this is not the first time where we have seen such an incident in the dumping ground. Over the years, there have been multiple incidents when such fire had an outburst and caused danger to life the nearby residential areas. These fire outbreaks are causing air pollution and panic in the city.

Earlier this year, due to these multiple fire outbreaks, the Punjab and Haryana High Court ordered the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation to clear the dumping ground by May, which doesn’t look to be met by them. These fire incidents put the nearby residential areas at high risk.
