People who go for walks in parks in Chandigarh will soon be treated to live performances. The UT tourism department has decided to provide a platform to artists for performing in gardens or parks of the city for an hour in the evening. This will help budding singers and artists to show their talent at famous tourist spots and prominent landmarks in Chandigarh, such as Rose Garden, Shanti Kunj, etc.

The singers or guitarists, or any skilled artists can set up their music set up or equipment and can perform publicly by joining the department.
The department has invited an Expression of interest from eligible instrumental artists, singers, etc in the city to perform in city parks for an hour, keeping the entertainment side in mind.
Artists can apply by visiting the tourism department office in Sector 19, or can contact the department or can browse through the department website for more details.
The selected artists will be given the opportunity to perform for approximately an hour every evening. The department will also pay them approximately. 2000 INR.

This model has been popular in Delhi and the Delhi tourism department and has received an overwhelming response from both artists and audiences. PM Modi has also appreciated this initiative in ‘Mann ki Baat’
It has also been mentioned by a senior officer of the tourism department that initially, this program has to be launched in collaboration with municipal cooperation, but later on, the department has decided to implement this initiative independently, keeping in mind the financial condition of the government.
