Cyclone Chaos: Mumbai Soaked and Struggling

Tuesday morning in Mumbai felt like a scene from a storm movie. The city, already tired from the heat, was suddenly slammed with heavy rain, lightning, and howling winds. Cars moved inch by inch through waterlogged roads. People, caught off guard, ran for shelter. According to IMD, this isn’t just passing weather,it’s the result of a growing cyclonic circulation over the Arabian Sea.

Storm Watch: IMD Predicts More Rain for Maharashtra

The Indian Meteorological Department said a low-pressure system is forming off the Karnataka coast. That means more rain is on the way for Mumbai, South Konkan, and parts of South Central Maharashtra between May 21 and 24. With strong winds expected too, travel delays and flooding could get worse before it get better.

Heat Holds Delhi Hostage, But Relief May Be Near

While Mumbai gets soaked, Delhi continues to roast. Tuesday touched nearly 42°C. People stayed indoors, clutching fans and cold drinks. But there’s some hope IMD says thunderstorms may hit the capital by Thursday. A recent climate report warns Delhi is now in the “very high heat risk” zone, thanks to rising night temps and extreme humidity.

Bengal’s Split Forecast: Thunder in the South, Floods Up North

Over in West Bengal, the skies are cooking up their own drama. Heavy rain is set to drench northern districts like Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, and Cooch Behar until Friday. At the same time, storms and gusty winds are expected to shake southern areas like Bankura and Hooghly. The chaos is being stirred by a cyclone near north Bangladesh and wind flow from the Bay of Bengal.

South India Reels From Deadly Downpours

The southern states faced tragedy this week. Karnataka reported five rain-related deaths, three of them in Bengaluru alone. Tamil Nadu wasn’t spared three lives were lost in a wall collapse in Madurai. IMD issued yellow alerts across both states, warning of more rain till May 22.

Early Monsoon in Kerala? Signs Say Yes

And there’s big news from Kerala. The IMD says the southwest monsoon might arrive in just a few days much earlier than the usual June 1 date. If it does, this would be the earliest monsoon onset since 2009. All signs show India’s weather is changing fast, loud, and without warning.
