Elon Musk recently announced the end of the term as Chief of the Department of Government Efficiency.
Recently, the billionaire Elon Musk, who was working as Chief of Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has announced that his term as the Chief has ended now. While announcing the end of his term, Elon Musk thanked the US President for “the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending”.
According to Musk, the DOGE will strengthen over time so that it will become a “Way of Life” in the government.
Just before the end of the terms as a chief, Musk has criticized Trump by commenting upon the signature. Musk criticized Trump’s expansive spending bill, which he argued undermines the fiscal objectives of DOGE. As per the Musk comments, “A bill can be big, or it can be beautiful. But I don’t know if it can be both”.
During his time at DOGE, Musk initiated multiple cost-cutting measures, which include downsizing federal agencies and terminating contracts. After this action, Musk claims that there was savings of $175 billion. His approach faced backlash, with critics accusing him of undermining essential public services.
Multiple legal challenges also emerged, notably a US District Judge ruled that Musk must face a lawsuit over alleged overreach of his authority in DOGE.
In late April, Musk started pulling back interviews where he commented that DOGE is becoming a “whipping boy” and expressed his dissatisfaction with the administration. He also conveyed that he didn’t achieve all the Goals with DOGE.
As per current market trends, Tesla shares have seen a decline in them. Apart from that all Musk’s business ventures are facing one or the other difficulties. SpaceX faced a setback with the recent explosion of Starship during the test flight. Apart from this, Musk has been facing outages on social media platforms like X. All these factors have been making Musk thought to improve the current operations structure.

Musk wants to focus more on his business after leaving the DOGE. Musk wants to invest more time in his business like : Tesla, Space X, X and xA1 so that they can reach new heights.
While the US President acknowledged Musk’s contribution till now with the DOGE, he also stated that he understands that he has other business which need his involvement, but he could have continued with his current role in DOGE.
