Genesis recently unveiled its new concept SUV, the X Gran Equator Concept. This vehicle is not yet set for production, but if it gets the green signal, it can give tough competition to Mercedes’ electric G-Wagon.
This new model moves away from the traditional styling of Genesis and points to a new path – a path that embraces luxury as well as adventure. The concept was first introduced at the 2025 New York International Auto Show, where it was clear that the brand is now serious about lifestyle and off-roading as well.
Design: Style hidden in simplicity
The look of the X Gran Equator is quite different from other SUVs. It has a clean and balanced look instead of a bulky design. The long bonnet, slim cabin and sloping roof at the rear give it a very premium feel. Large 24-inch beadlock-style wheels, thick cladding on the wheel arches and a two-part tailgate further strengthen its off-road nature. At the same time, Genesis’ signature two-line lighting at the front and rear connects it to the brand’s identity.
Interior: Away from the digital crowd
You will not find a lot of digital screens inside this SUV. Its dashboard design has been kept very simple and line-based. The most special is the cluster of four round dials given in it, which is inspired by old cameras. This shows that Genesis now wants to turn technology into a felt experience. Things like rotating seats and modular storage in the cabin make it user-friendly.
Meaning and purpose of the name
The name “Gran Equator” is derived from an Arabian breed horse, which is known not for its strength but for its stamina and peace. Similarly, this concept vehicle also reflects confidence and calmness instead of noisy power.
Showcase and glimpse of the future
After the New York Auto Show, this car will be displayed at Genesis House in Manhattan till July. Here people will be able to see it closely and perhaps get a feel of Genesis’s upcoming vision.
