Honda Activa-E Exposed! 102 km Range Claim Busted in Real World Test

HMSI Greets World with the Much-Touted Honda Activa-E Officially Launched in Bengaluru. Which Would Be Extended across the Country in a Phase Wise Manner. The Most Important Feature of This Electric Scooter is the Battery Swap Technology That Would Enable Users to Ride Along Without Any Wait for Replacement. But a Pertinent Question Remains: Would the Activa-E Actually Give That 102 Km Distance As Honda Claims? Real Test Results Were Shocking!
Reality Check: How Far Can Activa-E Go in the True Sense?
To get to the truth, Gaadiwaadi carried out some real-world tests on the bustling roads of Bengaluru. Fully charged, the digital display of the scooter showed a promising 102 km range. However, as it moved across busy city traffic the depletion in battery happened before one would expect.
The conclusion that emerged from this test proved a world apart from what Honda boasted: within just 56.6 km of travel, the charge deactivated. This means that the real-world range is thus 45.4 km short of what Honda has promised. The big difference raised a serious question: did Honda really exaggerate the range just to stoke interest in the product?
Is Honda Activa-E Falling Behind Its Competitors?
As far as range performance is concerned, the Activa-E lags behind Ola Electric, Ather 450X, Bajaj Chetak EV, and TVS iQube by a long margin. These competitors produce real-time mileage of 80-110 Km, which fails to impress with Honda’s figures. Range is the most determining factor for many buyers in their decision on which electric scooter to purchase, and this might be a deal breaker for them.
What Does Honda Activa-E Offer?
The Activa-E, despite its range disappointment has some interesting specifications. It features a 1.5 kWh dual-swappable battery system powering a 6 kW fixed magnet synchronous electric motor. Peak torque is rated at 22Nm, three riding modes are available and top speeds achieve 80Km/h in just over 7.3 seconds from rest to 60Km/h.
The scooter includes a 7-inch TFT display with navigation that records as tech-savvy, accessible for traveling. However, it could all become meaningless if a user’s expectation does not match the user’s reality.
Most importantly will unfortunately be answered only after some time.
Is the Honda Activa-E ready to be the next trustworthy electric scooter or would the buyer regret this choice?
