Ingredients to make Dal Dhokli :

Tur/Arhar dal 1 cup

Water: 3-4 cups

Tomato (chopped): 1 medium

Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp

Salt to taste.

Jaggery 1 tbsp

Tamarind paste, 1 tsp

Red chili powder 1/2 tsp

Coriander powder 1 tsp

Wheat flour, 1 cup

Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp

Red chili powder 1/2 tsp

Salt to taste.

Ajwain 1/2 tsp

Oil 1 tsp

Water for kneading dough

Ghee or oil: 1 tbsp

Mustard seeds, 1/2 tsp

Cumin seeds, 1/2 tsp

Curry leaves: 6-8 leaves

Green chili 1-2 (long chopped)

Asafoetida: 1 pinch

Method to make Dal Dhokli :

Wash the toor dal and cook it in a pressure cooker with 3-4 cups of water, turmeric, and tomatoes for 2-3 whistles. After cooling, grind the dal in a mixer or a sieve. Whisk well with a whisk. In a bowl, add wheat flour, salt, turmeric, chili powder, celery, and some oil. Add water little by little and knead a hard dough. Roll out the dough and make thin rotis and cut them into square pieces (dhokli is ready). Heat ghee in a pan, and temper mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves, and green chilies. Now add the beaten lentils to it. Add jaggery,

tamarind paste, coriander powder, red chili, and salt. Let the lentils boil on medium flame. When the lentils come to a boil, add the chopped dhokli pieces to it. Cook on low flame for 10-12 minutes until the dhokli becomes soft and cooked. Keep stirring in between so that the dhokli do not stick to each other. Sprinkle green coriander and pour lemon juice on top. Serve hot dal dhokli with ghee.
