Ingredients for making Masala Khichdi:

  • One bowl of rice
  • One bowl of tur dal
  • Finely chopped onion
  • Finely chopped tomato
  • One teaspoon ginger garlic paste
  • Half teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Half teaspoon red chili powder
  • Half teaspoon Kashmiri red chili powder
  • One teaspoon chaat masala
  • One teaspoon dry mango powder
  • One tablespoon ghee
  • Two to three teaspoons of oil
  • Finely chopped coriander
  • Salt according to taste

Method of making Masala Khichdi:

To make khichdi, first wash the rice and lentils thoroughly and soak them in water for half an hour. Now heat one teaspoon of oil in a cooker and add half a teaspoon of cumin seeds and half a teaspoon of mustard seeds to it. When the tadka crackles, add finely chopped onion, one teaspoon of ginger-garlic paste, and finely chopped tomatoes, and fry for 1 to 2 minutes.

When the onion is lightly fried, add all the ground spices, cover, and cook for 1 to 2 minutes. When all the spices are fried well, add soaked lentils and rice to it and let it whistle two to three times. When the whistle blows, add finely chopped coriander to it, mix it well, and serve it with pickle and papad.
