Scorching Sun in North India as Heatwave Intensifies
The north Indian belt is under the clutches of a ruthless heatwave at the moment. Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan and some parts of Uttar Pradesh are battling temperatures over 45°C. There are empty streets afternoons as people do not step out of their homes except in utter need.
Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an alert stating that this type of extreme heat waves will remain for at least five days. Later, there has been a chance of a change in weather pattern to make it cooler, but currently, it is only likely to get hotter. Offices and schools are also not likely to escape, with many reducing working hours or requesting individuals to stay indoors during the hot peak.
South and Northeast Sooaked as Monsoon Causes Destruction
Whereas up north it’s blazing, down south and north-eastern states are in the grip of a totally different kind of crisis. Monsoon rains have pounded parts of Kerala, Karnataka, and Goa and triggered heavy waterlogging in cities and towns The roads are rivers, and traffic has been completely out of gear.
In coastal Karnataka and Kerala, there are some districts which have experienced what the locals have termed a “water bomb,” wherein it rains so heavily and violently that one hardly has time to respond. Rescue operations are in top gear. IMD issued a red warning for heavy rain accompanied by lightning and thunder in the two states.
Heavy Rain Warnings in 14 Indian States
The IMD has also issued heavy rainfall warnings in 14 states, both south and northeast India. Here is a quick weather summary:
Kerala, Karnataka, Goa – Thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy rain expected daily
Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh – Monsoon intensity rising, expected to disrupt transport and daily life.
Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya – Already drenched zone may face flash floods.
Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram – The rains of June 10 to June 13 in these states can induce landslips on hill slopes.
Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam – From June 10 to June 14, the heavy rains are risky.
The government has also requested the people residing within the exposed areas to exercise caution and reduce outdoor movements.
Upcoming Weather Outlook
While South and the Northeast are grappling with flood-like conditions, the North is anticipating heat-related complications. The IMD predicts that a change in the weather looming on the horizon will bring rains to regions of North India in five days’ time. Otherwise, it’s the story of two extremes—blazing sun in the north, relentless rain in the south.
