Extreme Weather Alert: IMD Warns 12 States of Heavy Rain, Thunder, and Lightning
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a very heavy alert over the next three days across India — expect extreme rainfall, thunderstorms and lighting. Numerous states have seen cooler temp, thundery winds and floods already as the weather patterns shift significantly, hinting at an on-foot escalation of pre-monsoon season.

Orange Alert Issued in Chhattisgarh
Several districts of Chhattisgarh including Sukma, Bastar, Dantewada and Kanker have received orange alert from Raipur meteorological centre of the state. Residents are being told to avoid going out in strong winds and thunderstorms that might cause some ruptures from officials.

Cooler Weather for Delhi-NCR

Western India will receive light to moderate rain, thunderstorms and strong winds from May 8-12. Thunderstorms warnings for Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana Rajasthan and Chandigarh. Dust storm warnings on May 9 and 10 for the western parts of Rajasthan The Himalayan states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh as well as Uttarakhand are keeping a close eye for lightning.
Southern India, including Karnataka, Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry, will see heavy rains and thunderstorms through May 12.
