Bihar weather update: Monsoon activities have slowed down in Bihar for the last few days, but the Meteorological Department says that this pause is not going to last long. The Patna Meteorological Center issued a yellow alert for 17 districts in North and East Bihar on Monday, August 18. There is a possibility of thunderstorms, lightning, and light to moderate rain in these areas.
The districts in which the alert has been issued include Bettiah, Motihari, Gopalganj, Siwan, Chapra, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia, Katihar, Bhagalpur, Banka, Jamui, Munger, Khagaria, Saharsa, and Madhepura. Winds here can blow at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning that incidents of lightning may increase, so people should exercise caution.
Normal weather in Patna and South Bihar
While on one hand, there will be a period of unstable weather in the districts of North Bihar, the weather is expected to remain normal in the capital Patna and the districts of South Bihar for the time being. The sky will remain partially cloudy and humid heat may persist. However, experts believe that this stability will not last long, as the monsoon is going to become active again in the entire state from next week.
Heavy rain after August 20
For the last one week, the period of heavy rains in Bihar has stopped, but the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that after August 20, heavy to very heavy rains will start across the state. Monsoon activities will intensify in the next three to four days, and their effect will be visible from North Bihar to South Bihar and Seemanchal.
This rain will not only give relief to the people from the humid weather but will also prove beneficial for farming. This rain is considered very important, especially for paddy and Kharif crops. Farmers hope that this heavy rain will solve the problem of irrigation to a great extent.
At present, the Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to stay in safe places during bad weather and avoid standing in open fields or under trees during storms or lightning.
