Chandigarh Weather Alert: IMD Issues Heavy Rain Till July 9, Advised to Stay Safe

Chandigarh is once again seeing sudden changes in weather. After three days of clear skies, the city turned hot and humid on Friday. Humidity levels touched 93%, making it uncomfortable for everyone. Though most parts of the city remained dry, a few areas in the western parts saw a good spell of rain.

Rain in Some Sectors

It was around 12:30 PM on Friday when rain showers lashed areas of Sector-38 (rear), Dhanas, and Sarangpur. Afternoon rain that fell at the weather office in Sector-39 was 23.7 mm, however. The rest of the city remained untouched by rain. While the downpour gave relief in those areas, many other sectors continued to face high humidity levels throughout the day.

Monsoon to Return on July 6

The monsoon, which had missed four days, is expected to return. The city saw heavy rain until July 1, followed by a few dry days. Now, weather experts say that monsoon clouds will return over Chandigarh from July 6. This will mark the re-entry of strong monsoon activity across the region. Chandigarh has already experienced record rains in June itself, from the 27th to the 1st of July, which reduced the temperature and caused traffic and water logging in certain places.

Alert given for intense rain

July 6 to July 9 have heavy rainfall alerts from the weather agency. The city may get nearly 100 mm of rain each day on July 6 and 7. The rain is anticipated not just in Chandigarh but also across the Tricity and north India. This warning calls for locals to be ready for intense downpours that may have an effect on highways, traffic, and everyday life. Low-lying regions may also experience greater flood risk from this quantity of rain, tree collapses, and waterlogging.

Stay safe and follow Official Updates

Although weather change would relieve heat and humidity, it would nevertheless be problematic if there is too much rain. People should plan their trip and everyday life around this. Be careful as the monsoon reactivates once more. Drive carefully, and avoid going outdoors in the rain. Offices, schools, and regular commuters should monitor the weather forecast. You can plan your day and avoid any unforeseen challenges caused by the rain by keeping an eye on local news and IMD alerts.
