Chhath Festival 2025: Railways to Run 12,000+ Special Trains for Smooth Travel

Chhath Festival 2025: The Chhath festival 2025 is being celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion. This four-day grand festival begins with Nahai-Khai on the first day, Kharna on the second day, Sandhya Arghya on the third day, and concludes with offerings to the rising sun on the fourth day. This festival is primarily dedicated to Lord Surya and Goddess Chhathi and is celebrated on the sixth day of the month of Kartik.

Rail travel is always challenging for people returning to Bihar and Purvanchal during Chhath. This time, the Railways has announced the operation of over 12,000 special trains to major cities across the country, including Delhi, Mumbai, Surat, Amritsar, and other destinations. Additionally, additional trains and coaches are being added for passenger convenience and crowd management.

Special arrangements for return journeys:

The Railways announced that 6,181 special trains will be operated from October 28th to facilitate passengers returning to work after the festival. In addition, additional automatic ticket vending machines (ATVMs), reservation counters (PRS), and holding areas have been created for passenger convenience.

Crowd Control and Facilities:

Fully equipped hosting areas have been created for passengers at major stations such as New Delhi, Anand Vihar Terminal, Udhna, Pune, and Mumbai. Railway staff are continuously engaged in guiding passengers, ensuring safety, and maintaining order.

More than 900 additional special trains will also be operated from November 25th during the festivals. Hosting areas, additional ticket counters, and CCTV surveillance have been set up at approximately 30 stations in Bihar. These stations include Patna, Danapur, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Saharsa, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Samastipur, and Barauni. In addition, special arrangements have been made in Gorakhpur, Ballia, and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh to accommodate the increased number of passengers.

The Railways has also ensured a comfortable and safe travel experience for passengers by adding additional coaches to existing train services. This will enable millions of devotees to easily reach their destinations and enjoy the festival during Chhath.
