Delhi NCR Weather: Heavy Monsoon Rain Brings Relief From Heat, Causes Traffic Chaos

Delhi NCR Weather: Monsoon has been raining heavily in the capital Delhi and NCR this week. The heavy rains that started on Wednesday continued till Friday morning. Cloudy skies and cool winds made the weather of the city pleasant, but waterlogging and traffic jams in many areas put people in trouble.

Temperature drops, relief from heat

According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature on Friday will be around 34 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature will be around 24 degrees Celsius. Safdarjung Observatory recorded 39.1 mm of rain from 8:30 am on Wednesday to 8:30 am on Thursday. Till Thursday morning, 16.6 mm of rain was recorded, and other areas like Palam recorded 79 mm, Najafgarh 61 mm, and Aya Nagar 51.1 mm of rain. This rain gave relief to the capital from the humid heat, due to and people breathed a sigh of relief.

Rain brought relief as well as trouble

While the rain brought the temperature down below normal and made the weather pleasant, it also halted the pace of the city. Waterlogging and traffic jams troubled people going to school, college, and the office for a long time. Vehicles were seen crawling on the roads of Delhi-NCR, which affected the daily routine of the common man.

The next seven days will also remain wet

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, this rain may continue until August 3. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning from Saturday to Wednesday. However, there will be slight fluctuations in the temperature. Between Saturday and Monday, the maximum temperature is expected to be between 34 to 36 degrees and the minimum between 23 to 26 degrees Celsius. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the maximum temperature may fall slightly to between 32 to 35 degrees.
