Delhi and the surrounding NCR area saw light rain on Thursday that made the weather pleasant. Light to moderate rain is predicted on Friday as well, stated the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The sky will be almost cloudy throughout the day with a possibility of lightning and thunder. The maximum temperature for the day will be about 34°C, and the Air Quality Index (AQI) is in the ‘satisfactory’ range.
Scattered Rainfall and Cloudy Weather Over the Region
In unpredictable weather, there were scattered showers over Delhi and its surroundings on Thursday. Drizzle in some areas and light rain in others were witnessed. There will be light to moderate showers on Friday with thunderclouds formation and likely showers with lightning. Max and min temperatures will be 34°C and 25°C, respectively.
Irregular Sunshine and Rainfall in the Evening Seen
Despite the cloud covered sky, there were breaks in the sun during the day. At night, clouds gathered in certain places and resulted in more rainfalls. The maximum temperature on Thursday in Delhi was 34.8°C – 0.4°C less than normal and the minimum was 25.2°C, 2 degrees less than the season’s average.
Humidity Levels and Local Rainfall Records
Humidity was between 66% and 91% during the day. Local rain with mild drizzles were experienced at some locations like Lodhi Road and Ridge whereas Mayur Vihar received 0.5 mm of rain. There was moderate rain at various places around 9:30 PM, including the ITO area.
The IMD forecasts that the same weather trend is expected to remain for the rest of the week. After Friday, light rain or isolated drizzles may continue. Heat levels are likely to remain steady, though slight discomfort due to humidity is possible.
Meanwhile, the Air Quality Index (AQI) for Delhi was 70 on Thursday, which placed it in the category of ‘satisfactory’, as per data made public by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The quality of air is likely to remain the same for a couple of days.
